AMRAS Young Gynae Endoscopists & Surgeons
Introduction
- SAYGE represents young Gynae Endoscopists and Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) surgeons aged 45 and below who are members of AMRAS.
- In Pre-AMRAS era, SAYGE (Sarawak-AMRAS-APAGE YAG) is a collaboration between the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department of Sarawak General Hospital, Dr Sharifah Halimah Jaafar and the young APAGE group surgeons under the umbrella of APAGE-MIT(Asia Pacific Association of Gynaecologic Endoscopy & Minimally Invasive Therapy).
- Since it’s inception on 15/1/24, SAYGE has successfully organised the 1st international SAYGE Advanced Laparoscopy & Robotic Surgery Conference which took place from 9-11th June in Kuching, Sarawak.

- The Executive Committee serves a 2-year term.
- Members are elected based on a recommendation by at least one AMRAS Council member and a majority vote by the Council.
- 1 AMRAS council member will be suggested by at least 1 AMRAS council member and seconded by majority vote by council to sit as advisor to SAYGE Committee. The advisory board for SAYGE will consist of at least 1 council of AMRAS and current term president of AMRAS.
- SAYGE Executive Committee Advisor does not have a term restriction but can be changed at any time by at least 1 council member recommendation and seconded by majority.
A) Core Functions:
- Training support for candidates undergoing ASC programmes, FMIGS
- Assist and works under purview of AMIS, in execution of workshop (eg: TLH, vNOTES, hysteroscopy etc)
- Serve as facilitators, organizing committee or trainers in development
- Support logistics and hands-on training delivery for workshops/congress/Hands-On sessions
B) Academic Role
- AMRAS Cup / Video abstract / Other abstract management for AMRAS Congress
- Full responsibility for organizing AMRAS Cup competition at AMRAS Congress
- Coordinate judging and scientific evaluation (involve field experts, senior peers, external reviewer such as APAGE YAG based on each AMRAS Congress requirement)
C) Communication and social media
- Lead on AMRAS website content and media content
- Promote education, achievements, opportunities
D) Engagement & Collaboration
- Collaboration with regional and international young surgeon associations/societies
- Networking and social activities

SAYGE TOT (Training of Trainers) programme
- Senior AMRAS council members/expert faculty will focus on imparting skills and knowledge for facilitation and teaching skills of various workshops to committee member (not surgical credentialing)
- SAYGE executive committee members & AMRAS-SAYGE Young Surgeon Development scholarship holder will be given priority for training
AMRAS-SAYGE Young Surgeon Development Scholarship
- To support young Gynaecologic Endoscopists and MIS surgeons in attending relevant training courses, workshops, or conferences, while fostering active contribution to AMRAS and SAYGE activities.
- Value – up to RM 2000/recipient per year, subject to AMRAS approval and available funds
- Eligibility :
- Be an AMRAS member aged 45 years and below
- Demonstrate interest in Gynae MIS
- Be willing to actively contribute to SAYGE and AMRAS programmes
- Recipients are required to:
- Assist in at least 2 AMRAS training activities/workshops within 12 months
- Participate in SAYGE initiatives (e.g., facilitation, academic sessions)
- Submit a post-course report (brief summary of learning and application)
- Contribute to knowledge sharing (e.g., short presentation, teaching session, or content)
Selection process for SAYGE Executive Committee Members
- AMRAS Advanced MIS Committee (AMIS) will offer letters of appointment to suitable candidates
- From time to time, there will be an opportunity for “open expression of interest” to AMRAS member 45 years and below to apply for committee post.
